Goa: Rs 7,200 crore loss due to covid for tourism sector

Panaji, Dec 19: Covid has hit tourism sector to the tune of Rs 7,200 crore and also  job losses in the range of 35-58% as per the government. 35% of Goans are employed in tourism sector and it contributes 16.43% of the state GDP.

The report covered the period from April 10 to May 25.The report was prepared by Goa tourism, GTDC, and KPMG, and released by chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday.

The tourism sector has reopened from September and is on recovery path in the past two months after a surge in domestic arrivals.
