Mangaluru, Dec 18: A teacher displayed extraordinary skill and courage and swam one km in the sea in Padmasana position with his legs tied by chain.
Teacher by profession Nagaraja Kharvi Kanchugodu, who is already renowned for his swimming skills is the one who created a new record. Nagaraja is serving as a teacher in the higher primary school of Kalmanja in Bantwal taluk.
Kharvi swam one km in the Arabina Sea near Tannirbhavi in just 25 minutes and 16 seconds and created a new record. He started the feat at 8.55 am from the shore and returned back to the shore at 9.20 am.
Nagaraja has planned this feat in order to write his name in the India Book of Records. Pradeep D'Souza, officer of Dakshina Kannada district sports department, was present and witnessed the achievement of Kharvi.
Nagaraja Kharvi had bagged two gold and one bronze medal in the national level swimming competition that was held in Vadodara of Gujarat in last January. He also intends to create awareness among the public about the benefits of swimming and Yoga and also the wrong thinking people have in mind about the sea.
