Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (MS)

Beltangady, Dec 18: Anubhav (8), son of Bijoy, owner of Bijoy Agencies, a resident of Ashawathakatte vicinity on Car Street of Janardhana Swamy temple of Ujire, was kidnapped on the evening of Thursday, December 17 by three to four people, who arrived in white Indica car.

The kidnappers have placed a demand of Rs 17 crore for the release of the boy as per the complaint filed in the police station by A K Shivan, grandfather of the kidnapped boy.

Anubhav

Shivan had gone for walking. His grandson Anubhav was going to his home, in front of his grandfather, after playing. As he was reaching the gate of his house, two strangers got down from the Indica car which was parked near the gate and forcefully made Anubhav to sit in the car. When Shivan came running and tried to open the door of the car, the kidnappers drove the car towards Car Street and sped away.

The kidnappers called the daughter-in-law of Shivan and placed a demand of 100 bitcoins or Rs 17 crore in order to release the boy safely. Police who have registered the case are investigating further.

Some personal rivalry is behind this. The amount, bitcoins and fielding for a duration long enough for the operation to take this turn means, there is a massive amount of detail out of public view.

As per my knowledge, such type of incident is happening for first time in a remote place in DK which is shocking. Looks like the work of a professional gang who have well planned this kidnapping! Also, they might be aware of the families finances to ask for such a big ransom!
Time for the super rich to take maximum care after this incident!
BTW, such incidents used to happen only in big cities, now this incident suggests that these extorstionsts are targeting previously crime less areas, could be because of lots of money earned by traders in areca, which is at lifetime high!
Pray that the innocent child gets home safe!

Why make the kidnappers' demand public? This may put the child's life in jeopardy.

Wat is the logic ? Why asking for payment in bitcoins makes them known to family ?.You dont need to own bitcoins to send bitcoins..You can buy it from any exchange and transfer it.The only logical reason they are asking for payments in BTC is to hide the destination of the money..

A typical example of a failed, meaningless Atmanirbhar Bharat slogan and transformation of one of the best educated, respectful, peaceful & one time No.1 Karnataka state into UP-Bihar model.

When any suspicious people or vehicle moves around our area/ house, we tend to keep quiet. 'Yakkuleg dayeg bodu' attitude. If the family and neighbours, would have been slightly pro active, this could have been avoided. Good neighbour is always an asset.
