Bengaluru, Dec 17: 'Vidyagama', a scheme that supplements the efforts to maintain continuity in imparting education to the children, will come into force in its revised avatar from January 1 onward in the state.
The department of public instruction has issued an order in this regard. "As schools have not started functioning on account of coronavirus, 'Vidyagama' scheme is being implemented again. In this connection, the government has already issued its methodology of operation and guidelines. Therefore, all the schools in the state should make preparations and take precautionary measures to implement the scheme from January 1," it directed.
The previous 'Vidyagama' scheme had been introduced on August 8 this year. On account of defective implementation and technical issues, the government had temporarily suspended its operation from October 1 onward. Now, because of the delay involved in the opening of educational institutions, this department is making all kinds of preparations to bring the scheme into practice in its revised form. It has issued the revised guidelines for the scheme.
Under the scheme, the guiding teachers have to meet the children every day or not less than one day in a week at least and give them the time table for the next week. Volunteers, NGOs, and educated youngsters from the respective areas should be actively involved with the implementation of the scheme. Lessons should be taught under the supervision of teachers. Effective teaching should be undertaken with the help of available equipment like smartphones and laptops, the government directives said.
