Bengaluru, Dec 17: R N Shetty, who was the founder of RNS group of educational and many other concerns, breathed his last at around 2 am on Thursday December 17. He was 92. Heart attack caused his demise.
Shetty's mortal remains will be kept in the RNS Engineering College premises at Uttarahalli in the city after 2 pm on Thursday for enabling people to pay their respects. Funeral will follow in the evening, his family sources stated.
Shetty was born on August 15, 1928, at Murudeshwar in Uttara Kannada district. He was involved with various sectors including religion, culture, spirituality, medical, hospitality, housing, industrial, employment, commercial, education, infrastructure, power, irrigation and such other fields.
R N Shetty established an infrastructure company in 1961. He successfully executed many projects including Hidkal reservoir, Thattihalla reservoir, Supa dam, Gerusoppa reservoir, Mani dam, Varahi hydel power project, Konkan Railway tunnel, construction of national highways etc.
Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has expressed his deep sense of grief at the demise of leading industrialist R N Shetty.
The Chief Minister has sent his condolence message to the bereaved family.
Born in an agricultural family, R N Shetty has earned a name in the hotel industry and was a leading entrepreneur involved in multiple enterprises like construction, transport and infrastructure development, the Chief Minister said lauding R N Shetty’s contribution especially to the education sector.
