Karkala, Dec 15: A former Bajrang Dal leader has been arrested by the Karkala police on charges of aiding theft of cattle. The accused in this case has been identified as 45-year-old Tellaru resident, Anil Prabhu.
As per the police, Prabhu is a former convenor of the Karkala unit of Bajrang Dal. His arrest came after a man named Mohammad Yasin, who was recently arrested in a beef smuggling case, revealed to the police about the way Prabhu played a role in the theft of cattle.
Yasin who is a resident of Hudco colony was recently arrested for smuggling beef. It was when he was being interrogated that he made those revelations about Prabhu. He reportedly told the police that Prabhu used to take money to ensure that there was no issue from the police when the stolen cattle and beef were being transported.
Following receipt of this information, Prabhu was arrested and produced before the court.
