Mangaluru, Dec 15: Samruddhi Water Sports will launch district's first recreational boating center near Kulur bridge, Tannirbavi cross road, in the first week of January.
Addressing a press at boating center here on Tuesday, December 15, owner of Samruddhi Water Sports, P Shivakumar Pailoor said, "Initially, we would like to operate four boats namely Kumaradhara, Netravathi, Payaswini and Phalguni. In the beginning, the boat will ferry 12 persons adhering to Covid-19 guidelines and safety measures.
"The passengers will be ferried from Kulur bridge to Ullal or from Kulur to Maravoor. The boat will be accompanied by a rower and a lifeguard. All the commuters will be provided life jackets. The boating centre will operate from 9 am to 6.30 pm. The entrance fees to the boat center will be Rs 50. Boating expenses will be Rs 2,500 for 12 persons.
"Though we had planned to inaugurate the centre on January 2, we will inaugurate it after checking availability of the deputy commissioner. After 6.30 pm, the boating centre will also telecast old Tulu movies through projector. There will be cultural programme which represent culture of Tulunadu like Yakshagana and music. Cultural programmes for physically disabled and specially-abled children will be organised," he said.
He also said that the boating centre has planned to introduce boat houses, angling, water sports and speed boats in the future. “In addition, the boating center has a photo corner with replicas of wild animals and tribal folk. The boating center developed at a cost of Rs 1.3 crore,” he added.
