Beltangady, Dec 15: Three men who have been accused of operating a brothel in a rented house were arrested on Monday December 14. In the meanwhile, two women who were being exploited, too were taken into custody.
The arrested men have been identified as Janardhan Poojary (45), Janardhan Ilantila (40) and Ramachandra Devadiga (45).
The house at Kallagudde in Melantabettu village where the brothel was being run was rented by Ramachandra Devadiga. Based on reliable information received by Beltangady police circle inspector about the existence of a brothel, Bantwal deputy superintendent of police Valentine D'Souza led a team of policemen which included circle inspector Sandesh P G.
Accused Ramachandra Devadiga had allowed the house he had taken on rent to be used for illegal activity. Case under different sections of the Indian Penal Code and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act has been registered.
