Bengaluru, Dec 10: A delegation of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy met chief minister B S Yediyurappa on Thursday, December 10 and urged him to implement their demands which included education in mother tongue Konkani as a medium of instruction for students of Class 1 to 5.
The chief minister also listened to the demands of the Academy for teaching in Konkani from Class 6 till postgraduate level along with the inclusion of Konkani language in the curriculum for DEd, BEd and MEd courses and appointment of Konkani language teachers in the different phases of education. The CM also maintained that the demand for education in mother tongue in primary school level as per new education policy is justified.
The delegation was led by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Dr K Jagadish Pai and accompanied by members Sanoor Narasimha Kamath, Arun Shet, Navin Nayak and Gurumoorthi Shet.
