Mangaluru: Finally, NH 169 being relieved of potholes

Mangaluru, Dec 9: The sufferings of vehicle riders using Mangaluru-Moodbidri road are on the verge of ending. In the first phase, the patchwork of the highway has been completed and complete asphalting work has begun.

Asphalting work is being undertaken for a 25 km stretch of the road between Moodbidri and Beluvai, which is part of Mangaluru-Solapur highway beginning from Kulshekar, Mangaluru. Works have already started and as per the current plan, it will take 40 days to complete the work.

The work is being executed at a cost of Rs 8 crore under the periodical renewal plan. The road inside Moodbidri town and Gurpur have already been bituminised under the plan. The road is being tarred for the balance portion now. This is not road widening work, but just the asphalting work on the existing road said PWD highway department officials.

Bitumission concrete and dense bituminous macadam are used for the asphalting work. While the first concrete and tar mix is used for the entire 25 km stretch of the road, dense bituminous macadam is being used for select stretches. In order not to affect the traffic, wherever needed, work is also undertaken at night.

Each time, the monsoon gets over, the road maintenance begins, which is normal and is being done over the years.

The most disgusting issue is, year after year, why we get potholes every monsoon and driving becomes a nightmare. The government road research agency has not found a solution to this problem? Or if it has, there is no implementation.

It only suggests that the agencies awarding the contract for road work are not inspecting the asphalt laying work or the quality of material used for the job. After all it is the tax payers money, so who cares?

Only recently I can see such road works are being done on periodic basis ..which is a good sign..
I have never seen such acts during congress ..
During congress rule and now the following difference are clear
    1. Fewer power cuts
    2. Scarcity of currency Note was rampant during congress.
    3. Many times we got to hear there is no coal ,No water in sharavathi ..thats why there is power cut. Not anymore.
    4. The roads are much better comparatively ..still a long way to go. The NMPT high was always filled with potholes during the congress regime ..now atleast its OK.
ITs clear that Modi govt has changed many things ..it has to now focus on the following
    1.Quality of Air
    2.Quality of Water.

Do not make generic statements ..tell me which ones you disagree and why.
Dont think that if there is a statement which you do not like to hear as "Negative" .I can understand your context of "Negative" .Maybe you do not like Modi and BJP ..then I can understand.
