Mumbai, Dec 9 (IANS): In a big catch, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized Malana Cream hash valued around Rs 2.50 crore in Mumbai and arrested a major drug supplier, Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede said here on Wednesday.
The latest operation is linked with the drug case filed against Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty and the NCB has arrested supplier Jinendra Jain alias Rigel Mahakal, late on Tuesday.
Wankhede said that the accused's name came up during the interrogation statement of another accused Anuj Keshwani on September 7, with his involvement as a suppliers of charas/hashish in Mumbai area.
As part of the action, the NCB also caught Mohammed Azam J. Shaikh and recovered 5 kg of Malana Cream charas, some opium and Ecstacy worth Rs 13.51 lakhs from his home in Oshiwara, Jogeshwari west.
Shaikh is considered the main supplier of charas in the same (Rhea Chakraborty-linked) case and this is said to be the biggest seizure effected by the NCB in the past four months in Mumbai.
"The 'Malana Cream' is the most desirable charas in the world and is grown only in the Malana region of Himachal Pradesh. Its international market price ranges from Rs 40-50 lakh per kg," said Wankhede.
In the swoop carried out late on Tuesday, Mahakal, the supplier of the Malana Cream was detained for questioning and later arrested.
The raids were carried out late Tuesday-early Wednesday in Andheri west areas after Mahakal's name cropped up during the ongoing drugs investigations by the NCB.
The latest raid is connected with the ongoing probe into the Bollywood-drug mafia angle that emerged after the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14.
As part of the investigations, over 25 persons have been arrested and more than 50 - including Bollywood personalities, actors, actresses, some foreigners, drug suppliers and peddlers, etc have been grilled by the NCB to unravel the nexus.
Those under the NCB radar include Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, Arjun Rampal, Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiya, among others.
