Puttur, Dec 8: People of Mogappe area in Kolthige village in the taluk, it appears, are destined to get accustomed permanently to a mud road.
Mogappe has about 40 families. Those going there have to travel through elevated roads. Even though a road was laid here 15 years back, it was not asphalted. During the rainy season, the road looks like a slushy field and travelling the road becomes a very difficult task.
Even though the gram panchayat and local people's representatives have been approached with the request to metal the road, there has not been a proper response. The Anganwadi centre and health centres are deprived of roads. Even though pregnant women and those after childbirth have to walk on this slippery hilly road, the people's representatives have been turning a blind eye, the locals rue.
PM's response: Nettaru Mithun had written to the office of the Prime Minister seeking to sanction road for Mogappe under some scheme. The PM's office sent notices to the officials of the panchayat raj engineering subdivision and Kolthige panchayat development officer.
Mithun Nettaru says that even though requests to develop this road had been made to people's representatives, no official or peoples representatives have positively responded. He said that the PM's office has been approached for help.
