Mangaluru, Dec 7: Recently anti-national messages were found written in several places including the walls of the district court premises. Several groups, associations and the lawyer fraternity have requested the Advocates Association members to not protect such people or argue their cases in courts.
A meeting presided over by Advocates Association president M Narasimha Hegde on December 7 discussed the matter in detail and decided that Mangaluru Advocates Association members will not provide legal assistance, cooperation or fight the cases of those who are involved in treason, terrorism or who rendered support in these acts.
The chief secretary of the association has also requested the association members to not argue cases of those guilty in the matter.
On November 9, a graffiti on the court wall was created but because it was in Urdu, people did not understand it and therefore it did not hog the limelight. Disappointed by the fact that their work did not attract the required attention, the accused had created another writing on the compound wall of a residential complex near Bejai Battagudda early morning on November 27 between 4 and 4.30 am. Even though the case was intricate, the police cracked it in six days and arrested two people in this connection.
