Mangaluru, Dec 7: BJP state spokesperson Capt Ganesh Karnik has urged farmers in the state to not extend their support to Bharath Bandh which will be held on Tuesday, December 8.
Addressing the media here on Monday, December 7, Capt Ganesh Karnik said, "Despite having APMC Act several issues were faced by the farmers which the previous government failed to address. 92% of the farmers have been under the clutches of middlemen due to which they have been facing atrocities. The other political parties have also mentioned in their election manifesto that they would make amendments to the APMC Act."
"Some of these political parties who are supporting the Bharat Bandh are the agents of these middlemen. They are just protesting in the name of farmers to gain political mileage. Farmers should not fall victim to the conspiracies hatched by these political parties. BJP was ready for an open discussion, however, this request was dismissed which indicates a conspiracy brewing in this situation," said Ganesh Karnik.
"After 2014, there have been a lot of administrative changes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi who introduced several schemes for the benefit of the farmers," said Karnik.
Trade Unions and farmers from more than 12 states, including whole northern India, have so far extended their support for the ‘Bharat Bandh’ call of farmer organisations on December 8 where the farmers are raising their voice against the Centre’s three contentious farm laws.
