Mangaluru, Nov 21: A case was filed at Ullal police station, after a woman lost her mangalsutra worth Rs 60,000 and cash Rs 20,000. The woman was duped by a man who assured her that hospitals are providing money for corona.
Rakesh, who is said to have introduced himself as a bank employee, aged between 30 to 35, approached the woman who was standing at ration shop at Thokkottu.
Rakesh convinced the woman to believe that a hospital is providing Rs 2 lac amount for corona which need not be returned. He then took her to a private hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
Rakesh asked the woman for gold and additional Rs 20,000 money to pay the doctor. The woman gave away Rs 20,000 and her mangalsutra to Rakesh. To gain her trust, Rakesh gave his chain to the woman claiming it belonged to his mother and escaped from the spot, but the chain turned to be made up of fake gold.
