Mumbai, May 12: Thirty-four-year-old Dinesh S Shetty, a native of Kalavara in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district, and a successful hotelier of suburban Andheri (East), died in a tragic road accident that occurred on the Pune–Mangalore national highway at Kiruvatti, near Kumta, on the night of Monday May 10.
The deceased was returning to Mumbai along with his friends in a Toyota Innova car after attending the last rites of his father who passed away on Monday April 26 at Valabbi, Kalavara in Kundapur taluk.
However, when they reached Kiruvatti, the front tyre of the vehicle burst and it landed into a roadside trench at about 10.20 pm on Monday.
The passengers of car were thrown and Dinesh died on the spot, while one of his companions breathed his last at the KMC Hospital, Manipal. Another co-passenger from Gujarat is in critical condition at KMC Hospital, Manipal, while a third one is battling for his life, informed Dinesh’s brother Chandrashekar Shetty.
Dinesh migrated to Mumbai after completing SSLC from Basroor. He began working at a canteen in the metro and managed to complete his BCom by attending night classes at a college in suburban Goregaon.
He ventured into the restaurant business by setting up ‘Mansi Bar and Restaurant’ at Chakala, Andheri (East), ten years ago. He opened Hotel Ratna Park View in the same locality three years ago and had already made his mark as a successful hotelier.
Dinesh was married on April 26, 2009, and celebrated his first wedding anniversary recently.
His last rites were held at Kalavara on the night of Tuesday May 11. Hundreds of well-wishers from the metro arrived to pay homage to Dinesh. He is survived by his mother Lalita S Shetty, brothers, sisters, and wife.
