Mumbai, Nov 18: Former captain of Maharashtra state Kabaddi team, Rathnaker Manjayya Shetty (78) passed away recently. He hailed from Shirva Manchakal of undivided Dakshina Kannada district and spent his retired life in Hiranandani, Thane.

He had participated in the Maharashtra state Kabaddi team four times and was the team captain in the 16th national Kabaddi tournament held in Indore during 1968 in which the team had won.

He has left behind his wife Lalita Rathnaker, two sons, a daughter and a large number of friends and relatives including sports fans.

South Kanara sports club honorary president, Dr P V Shetty, president, Sanjiva T Shetty, executive president, Jagannath Shetty, secretary, Jaya A Shetty, treasurer, Raghuram Shetty, office bearers and members have condoled his demise and prayed for his soul.
