Kuwait, Nov 18: Tulu Koota Kuwait (TKK) president, Ramesh S Bhandary along with other five delegates from the managing committee comprising of vice-president Sanath Shetty, general secretary, Vijay Wilson Albuquerque, cultural secretary, Abdul Razak, PRO, Chandrahas Shetty and welfare officer, Lionel Mascarenhas had a fruitful meeting with the newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Sibi George on Sunday November 15, at his office in Indian Embassy Kuwait.
Tulu Koota president, Ramesh S Bhandary greeted the ambassador and handed over a bouquet and Diwali sweets as a token of gratitude and congratulated him for his new assignment as an ambassador of India to Kuwait. The general secretary handed over a set of documents containing details of the newly elected members of the management committee, annual report and the constitution copy and briefed about the association and its various activities along with the souvenir released during the cultural event Rasamanjari and Tuluparba held in 2019.
The present committee members gave a brief self-introduction, the president briefed him about the history and the objectives of the association and explained how the association is working toward the main objective 'unity through language'. Further, the members present explained to the ambassador the activities of the year such as family get-together, Rasamanjari, Tulu Parba which showcase the culture and tradition of Tulu Nadu.
The general secretary updated the Ambassador on the various welfare activities such as blood donation, medical camp, online session for students of the association and trying to reach the underprivileged and needy in society. He also mentioned the contribution made by the association under its new welfare project Ashraya Yojane, Glimmer of Hope and Project Education. He briefed about Tulu Koota Kuwait's active participation financially and its voluntary service in the food donation drive through the Indian Community Support Group(ICSG), in this COVID-19 pandemic which reached more than 1000 needy people around Kuwait with raw food kits.
Apart from the above, it was discussed further about the members of the association and the support to the members by the association which includes death grant, health grant in any health emergency, awarding the members children for their excellent academic records with scholarships, giving local talents opportunity to showcase their talents during the TKK mega-events.
The ambassador was delighted by the enthusiasm of the committee members and was keen to know about the association and its activities. He was happy to know that the association was formed 20 years back and grew with such dedication of service to society. He stressed the point that regional languages are always a part of social integrity and unity, so the association needs to give priority to nurture this language and pass it on to the new generation.
The ambassador discussed the various initiatives by the embassy such as an open house, 24/7 helpline etc, and advised the management committee members to take all possible initiatives to involve all the members of the association in all the activities. He also added that proactive involvement in any organization should not isolate any community or group from the part of society in large and should always work with the society as a part of society and not as an individual or isolated group which will affect the unity and social life in general. He assured all possible support from him through the embassy and conveyed his best wishes.
