Kundapur, Nov 17: The disagreements among BJP leaders after B M Sukumar Shetty became MLA has come out in the open. Most of the Byndoor taluk panchayat members including taluk panchayat president Mahendra Poojary remained absent for the preliminary meeting for elections held at the residence of the MLA. Out of nine-BJP supported members, only two female taluk panchayat members took part in the meeting. The absence of BJP’s influential leader in Byndoor, district panchayat member Babu Hegde also reflected on the fights in the dark.
There was opposition to the practice of Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty holding party meetings at his residence in the past. It is said that a few BJP leaders have expressed their opposition by staying away from the present meeting held by the MLA at his residence.
"BJP in Byndoor is giving preference to leaders who have joined the party from the Opposition. But, the primary BJP leaders are being completely ignored. We are against holding party meetings at the MLA's house, meetings should be only held at the party office. If this continues, the party will continue to incur a loss," a BJP leader said.
