Kundapur, Nov 17: Minister of Muzrai from revenue department Kota Srinivas Poojary slammed the Congress' accusations on electronic voting machines (EVM) and asked the party to accept defeat equally as they accept win. "The Congress allege EVM malfunctioning in places they lose. And what about the constituencies they win?" Poojary questioned.
"Political parties should equally accept victory and defeat. When Siddaramaiah wins, he accepts the EVMs to be functioning well and now after the loss, the EVMs seem to be malfunctioning. Such talks should not come from a personality of great stature like him. The EVMs are not malfunctioning, but rather it is the minds of the people of the Congress party that is malfunctioning," Poojary said.
Speaking on the coronavirus situation in the district Poojary said, “Coronavirus testing facilities have been arranged in all the health department centres. Camps will be held in hospitals if there are lapses and complaints from the people, although, minor complaints are normal in the beginning. We will eventually set them right,” he said.
“Saptapadi programme is suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. We will fix a date for it observing COVID-19 guidelines. Officials have been directed to hold Kodi festival fare, Durgaparameshwari temple pooja and other traditional festivals and poojas wherever necessary following COVID-19 guidelines.”
“Fisheries department director Ramachari has spoken to both the groups of fishermen in Koderi and Uppunda over disagreements. The deputy commissioner has also called the groups for peace. As it is a sensitive matter, the government intends to solve the problem there itself,” he said.
“The expansion of the Cabinet is left to the discretion of chief minister Yediyurappa. We support the party’s decision,” he said.
