Nov 15: Steady decline in coronavirus cases - 34 new in DK, Udupi reports 14

Mangaluru/Udupi, Nov 15: The steady decrease in the number of coronavirus cases continued on Sunday November 15, with only 34 new cases recorded in Dakshina Kannada, and just 14 in Udupi. Dakshina Kannada however reported two more deaths.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 3,00,808 samples have been tested so far, out of which 2,69,549 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 31,259, out of which only 766 are currently active.

As many as 86 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 29,800.

With two deaths on Sunday, the toll has reached 693.

Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 14,05,632 as fine in 12,971 incidents of mask violation.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 2,12,204 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,89,854 have turned out to be negative.

A total of 14 cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 22,350, out of which 240 are currently active.

As many as 56 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 21,892.

Out of 14, only one has been admitted to hospital, while the rest 13 are in home isolation.

As many as 10 of them are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 11 of the 14 cases, Kundapur recorded two and Karkala one.

Altogether, 187 deaths due to COVID have been reported in the district so far.
