Mangaluru, Nov 12: The district Kambala Samithi has decided to approach the district in-charge minister with a request to permit holding of Kambala, duly confining it to daytime.
Normally Kambala events are held between November last week and March end. But because of corona pandemic, there is uncertainty about this year's Kambala. Normally, preparations begin in August, but this time it did not happen.
Annually, 19 Kambala events are held in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasargod districts. This time, even if permission is given, preparations require about a month. Therefore, Kambala season might begin in the last week of December or January. Therefore, only about 12 Kambala events can be held during this period.
At the last meeting of the Kambala Samithi held at Moodbidri on October 6, time table for the events had been prepared. This time, the annual general body meeting may be held by November 15. Last year's season began with Hokkadygoly Kambala in Bantwal taluk on November 30 and 15 Kambala events were held. Due to various reasons, Kambala events were not organised at Katapady, Talapady and Tiruvail.
