Supreme Court grants bail to Arnab Goswami in abetment to suicide case

New Delhi, Nov 11: The Supreme Court on Wednesday November 11, granted interim bail to Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami in a 2018 case of alleged abetment to suicide of an interior designer. Quashing the Bombay High Court order, the apex court Bench headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud said it would be travesty of justice if bail was not granted while FIR was still pending.

Goswami and two other people, Feroz Shaikh and Nitesh Sarda, had challenged the Bombay High Court’s order rejecting their interim bail plea in the top court.

The Republic TV head was arrested on November 4 in connection with the double-suicide case of architect Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik on May 5, 2018 for alleged non-payment of his dues by Goswami, and two other creditors, Feroze Shaikh and Nitesh Sarda.

Naik's widow Akshata Naik and their daughter Adnya Naik, have filed a separate plea seeking a reinvestigation into the case or transferring it to an independent agency for probe.

    Ha ha ha Poor Maharashtra Government Tried to do something great to impress Congress and few people immediately started jumping in air when Arnab was arrested , but God is always there .Grace of God Proper Curse for Shiv sena and Congress . 2 mins silence for all those who taught Arnab career will end .Look at the massive support Arnab has . Thanks to Maharashtra Government for making Arnab hero .

    Use some commonsense, If supreme people asked like what you said they lack commonsense, definitely. In present case there is evidence and proof of contract being awarded to Anvay Nayak, in this case and he completed the task and payment not done, So he killed himself ,unable to pay his creditors, all these things are happened in real, not imaginary because before suicide Anvay and GOO Swamy had good relationship between them and so GOO Swamy awarded the contract,. Can you and your judges , imagine somebody simply writing Moodi name instead of Thackeray name ,without any prior connections and contacts????

    Thats what sc has said, if money in business contract is pending and the orher guy commits suicide, it cannot be abetment. There has to be personal contact, like husband and wife, employer, employee.....one cannot blame an unknown person for suicide and police cannot impose 306

    Non payment of money is purely commercial dispute, the affected party should have gone to the court instead of taking his own life. In india thousands of farmers commit suicide every year because of govt apathy, thousands of people die in accidents because of govt negligence, then in such cases Cheif minister of the state should be arrested and put to jail by applying same logic.

    Why 83 year old is still in jail having to wait for 20 days for hearing plea on using STRAW ....why justice seems to be given only to rich and mighty....personal liberty if kafil Khan in up, journalist arrested for exposing mid day meal scam , etc does not seem to be a matter of concern to the justice system? How come the SPL and privileged get hearing so EARLY?

    The Supreme Court of India, has expressed its displeasure, against The Bombay High Court, for not granting bail to Arnab Goswami... In a remark " Personal liberty must be upheld " Harish Salve the eminent, high profile lawyer, remarked that the arrest was to teach Arnab a lesson !!! He argued and was unsuccessful in acquiring the bail for his client.. The Mahaghatbandan is now under scrutiny for deliberate witchhunt, against the Republic channel !!!

    I would like to know from legal advocate whether there is truth in complaint letter. If it's correct it has taken justice of some people in the quee and if the complaint is wrong the concerned person consumed the valuable time and to be punished for creating confusion or by blaming registry. Sometimes back similar types of complaints from eminent lawyer s we heard in news paper. Anything should not be wonders after 70 years of independence

    Lokesh- Here question is not about Chill and Warm. Of course Arnab is not proved guilty. Question is Bombay high court hearing this case and they refused to give interim bail and instructed them to go session court and apply for bail.
    Arnab might have get bail from Sessions court, Why SC, is hearing him on priority. There is something is fishy and whole machinery of central Govt is trying to save one criminal who is accused on abetement suicide.

    I fail to understand why pressure to pay debt drives people to suicide; will suicide erase the debt? How can suicide by debtors become an abetting of suicide? What evidence did the police have before slapping a FIR?
    Was Arnab a flight risk and police could not wait to summon him to the police station and formally charge him? These legal questions should have d been addressed by the HC before refusing interim bail. Looks like the SC has smelt something fishy and possible political vendetta and the HC judge was "taken in". If that is the case, heads should roll whosesoever deserves to fall.
