Bengaluru, Nov 9: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had conducted Sero survey throughout the country in order to know the coronavirus infection, antigen and severity of the virus. This survey was held in 28 districts of Karnataka also. Based on the details of this survey, the rules will be formed in coming days to prevent the coronavirus infection.
Sero survey simply means the serum test of blood of individuals. People belonging to certain groups will be picked and their blood serum test will be done. It gives the details of the number of people infected in the group, number of people who have already developed antibodies in their bodies and number of people who are totally free of the infection. On the whole, these details help in determining the development of herd immunity.
Speaking about the survey, health minister Dr K Sudhakar said, "Sero survey is done in 28 districts of the state. Survey is done on both moderate and high-risk infected people."
According to the survey 15,654 people are surveyed in Karnataka. The number of people who are cured already from Covid-19 infection is 16.4. This number is still more in Mumbai, Pune and Tamil Nadu. The number of active infected persons is 12.7. Both together the percentage is 27.3. Death rate is only 0.05%. This number is 0.10% in Mumbai and 0.09% in Delhi. The number of infected people is more in Bengaluru and Ballari. In west Bengaluru the rate of infection is 45% and south is 39%. In total 16% have come out of Covid after getting infected. At present 12% infected people are there in the state according to the Sero survey.
This survey was done from September 3 to 16. According to this survey, nearly two crore people are infected in the state of Karnataka. This survey is done accurately after taking samples from all age groups. According to estimate Bengaluru should have had three times of infection but only two times is reported in the survey. This information was shared by Dr Giridhar Babu, chief of Sero survey. Survey will be done in two more phases towards the end of December and in February and March 2021. It is said that the state government will form rules to prevent infection based upon the points mentioned in the report.
