Chennai, Nov 9: Former Indian Administrative officer Sasikanth Senthil, who had quit civil service last year, joined Congress in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on Monday, November 9. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president KS Alagiri and All India Congress Committee general secretary Dinesh Gundu Rao were present at the event to welcome him to the party.
He also said that the BJP had brought its hate politics to Tamil Nadu. “They should not be allowed even an inch of space here,” he was quoted in a report by The Hindu.
Senthil had resigned on September 6, 2019, citing ‘disillusionment with the state of democracy in the country’. He also participated in the protests against the government over the Citizenship Amendment Act and other issues, after resigning from civil service.
While former IAS officer Senthil joined Congress in Tamil Nadu, former IPS officer K Annamalai in August had joined the BJP to add an edge to the saffron party's effort in making inroads in Tamil Nadu, a state where the party is virtually non-existent.
