Udupi, Nov 9: Five tourists out of a group of 10 from Bengaluru had come to Malpe seashore on Wednesday, November 9 at 12.30 pm. The group were having a bath in the sea when they nearly drowned. However, they were rescued from a terrible fate and admitted to the hospital.
They were rescued by a tourist boat and Jet Ski boat drivers. Doddaballapur resident Maruti Suhan (20) and Mandya resident Muralidhar (28) suffered serious injuries while drowning. They were admitted to hospital by Ravi of Harbour Friends.
The injured are under treatment in Ajjarkad government hospital. No case is registered in this connection so far.
This is the fifth incident of such kind to happen in Malpe. Locals believe that tourists who visit Malpe are unaware regarding the strenght of the currents in the sea.
