Mumbai, May 6: Mangalorean Shivraj Suvarna, the golden voice of Kannada, was honoured by the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy for his extraordinary service to the Indian film industry in a glittering function held on the 141st birth anniversary celebration of Dadasaheb Phalke at Baidas Auditorium, recently.
It was indeed a tribute to the voice artistes of the Indian entertainment industry and an honour to all Kannadigas.
The trophy and citation was presented by deputy chief minister Chagan Bhujbal in the presence of veteran cine artistes, Dev Anand, Manoj Kumar, Pran, Shriram Lagoo, and Sulochana.
Shivraj is a reputed dramatist, documentary film maker, director, writer, and voice artiste.
He has written and done the voice-overs for more than 5,000 documentary films and short films on various subjects for the films division under the union government.
He is also a well-known name in the advertising field.
