Mangaluru: Vehicular movement banned around Hampankatta from Nov 8 to Jan 6

Mangaluru, Nov 8: In an order issued by city police commissioner Vikash Kumar on Saturday, November 7, vehicular traffic will be prohibited in areas around Hampankatta from November 8 to January 6, 2021 due to road concreting and underground drainage work.

Only one-way traffic will be allowed from Hampankatta to Navbharath circle. All traffic movement from Navbharath circle to Hampankatta will be banned during this period.

All vehicles proceeding towards Light House Hill and Falnir from Hampankatta should take the longer route to PVS via KS Rao Road or Ambedkar circle. All vehicles approaching from Ambedkar circle towards Hampankatta should use Milagres cross road in front of Aravind Motors showroom at Balmatta Road and enter Falnir road. From there they have to go through Wenlock hospital underpass, railway station road, U P Mallya Road, adjacent to taluk panchayat office and proceed towards A B Shetty Circle.

All kinds of vehicle parking will be prohibited on Milagres road. All vehicular movement from railway station via Wenlock hospital underpass towards Hampankatta junction will be banned.

Two-way traffic will be allowed from Ambedkar circle to Light House Hill. These restrictions, however, do not apply to emergency service and police vehicles.

    Now it is Mother Theresa Road and not Falnir Road.
    Now if you want to return from State bank to Attavar you have to take long route of KS Rao road -Navabharath circle-Bunts Hostel-Jyothi-Balmatta Road-Milagres Cross Road-Avery Junction-Attavar Katte. They could have allowed traffic through old bus-stand by opening road near Bata.

    Under the pretext of Smart City, everywhere in the nook and corner of mangalore digging work is going on to complete the Project. Digging and other works connected to Smart City Project be done in a systematic and in a phased manner and not inconveniencing the public. The works already undertaken are you yet completed within the stipulated time. Dont know how long it will take to complete the works. Due to this everywhere traffic jam.

    In heavy rainy days, we can encounter water logging and most of the areas the roads are turning into water ways instead of drainage or side water ways (thodu)

    Great going.. All important roads like Hampankatta, Car Street etc closed for work all at same time as if there's "No Tomorrow".. Why can't they have a staggered approach rather than pouncing on all works at same time ... Ridiculous..

    If they are giving a date by Jan 06, 2021 the works will be done and road will be ready. What date is given for S. L. Mathias road Falnir? I do not think there is a date for this road. Three years still work in progress or curbed not sure.

    Hope they complete the work neatly unlike some other places. All ardhambardha..... In. Future someday if Monorail/metro rail is sanctioned then again digging this road starts..... This is why we call India a developing country.. Not developed one.
