Bengaluru, Nov 7: The police personnel of the state henceforth will not face disciplinary action if they lose old shoes, polish tins and torn uniforms. The government has now allowed them to directly dispose of the unusable items on their own.
The policemen right from the constable till the sub-inspector level had to return uniforms, shoes, polish tins, belts etc once they were fully used, at the inspection parade which was conducted under the leadership of an officer of the deputy superintendent of police grade once in two or four years. If they had lost any of the items, they were subjected to disciplinary action.

Many a time, preserving useless items duly taking care that they are not lost, posed a big challenge to the police. Director general of police, Praveen Sood, who is aware of this problem, convinced the government to cancel the earlier rule. Rules about returning the pistol, walkie-talkie, cane and other such items at the time of retirement will continue as before.
