Kadaba: Locals complain about use of harsh loudspeaker at Kepu mosque

Kadaba, Nov 7: Locals led by Hindu Jagran Vedike district leader, Raviraj Shetty, approached Kadaba police station and complained about a highly disturbing, harsh voice emanating from a mosque located at Kepu Amai in Kutruppady village.

They said that the use of high decibel microphone by the mosque authorities has been disturbing the children and the general public.

They have urged the police to immediately remove the said loudspeaker of the mosque.

APMC member Pulasya Rai, Shvaram Shetty Kepu, Jayachandra Rai Kundody, Gangadhar Gowda Halli Padmanaba Rai, Madhav Rai, Shivaprasad Rai Myleri, Harish Rai, Deekshit Gowda, Sridhar Shetty, Vidyadhar, Manmohan Rai, Sathish, Harish, Ramesh, Ganesh K M and other were present.

A petition in this connection was handed over to Kadaba station police sub-inspector Rukma Naik.

    1947 to 2014 every one was friendly visit each others home without religious differences(there may be small incidences) why these issues became serious after 2014 whom to blame, country is same people are same. Mumbai is considered to be the melting pot of India, here people from every state, come forward and live together as a family, yet you will also discover, that the financial capital is distinctly segregated on religious affiliation.. Why are people apprehensive, uneasy, rather fearful, to live together, is the contention every citizen has to examine... This uneasiness, suspicion, has to be understood, and the possiblity to break these barriers, in context with the present volatile scenario in our nation !!!!

    Let them put a threshold of the decibel and frequency of the sound. Failing to adhere should be penalized. Azaans can be heard kilometers away which is not the same for suprabhata or jathres. Centuries ago when people lived far away from each other, people still used to pray right. Now why is a large frequency announcement required?

    Thank god. That we are here, even after this world is passing through this pandemic situation.
    I live in a area, Everyday church bells ring, Azan from mosques, Every morning devotional songs from temple. Sometimes we feel irritated. but even some time we feel blessed.
    all these started decades back and our ancestors, Grandparents didn't have any issue, lived life co-operating to each other.
    This could have been generalized, like to avoid loudspeakers, not like it's irritation because of some particular religion.
    We need a better society, Better world. Be Better Human. I'm really sad with what's happening with our own people.

    If you feel blessed to hear various religious notice okay and good but many are not feel good to various reasons. Why because people work shifts; people are sick and sleeping with various illnesses and various reasons. When some noise make them mental depressed or disturbed the sleep etc. It is better to make a rule pray inside your house whatever style standing, sleeping, lying down etc or pray in the worship places within the boundary walls than make it like ocean flood on anywhere for that matter must be prohibited. This rules applies to every one. Look at west loud speakers are prohibited for all religion no exception. I have no issues with prayers but noiseless is recommended. Weekly announce in your prayers schedule in the worship places so that congregation is aware when to join the prayer than asking everyone in town to know we are staring soon.

    Some years ago i was trying to sell a plot of land. The customer agreed for a good price and when wee were about to proceed with the deal, he noticed that there was a place of worship close to the plot.

    He called up and said he is not interested. These loud speakers are a serious problem. People dont discuss this issue openly because it always offends some religion. Now a days nobody wants to live near places of worship because every day one has to put up with loud prayers which is not acceptable in the civil society any more.

    Rule should be applicable to all religions without any discrimination. Azaan is just few minutes. But we tolerate night long drum beating and high pitched singing and have no complaints. We also put up with round the clock music at fairs and we have no complaints. So, why single out Azaan? Just because the government, the administration, the police force and entire government agencies are in the pockets of one group?

    Singled out because of following reasons (as compared to the fairs and festivals)
    1. Fair and festival, the vendors need to advertise new things, whereas there is nothing new in Azaan
    2. The announcements in festivals and fairs are in a understandable language unlike Azaan
    3. The festival and fairs for all people irrespective of religion, caste creed, unlike Azaan
    4. Festivals and fairs do not disturb people in the early morning, unlike Azaan
    5. Festivals and fairs are not on daily basis, so tolerable, unlike Azaan

    If you are convinced on the above 5 reasons, then OK. Otherwise, let me know as I have another 50 reasons to justify why Azaan is singled out......

    It's clearly unjustifiable If they using loudspeakers which are violating the law or decibel limit in residential areas.
    But I feel sorry for some commentators here who are stating Azan being called for God to hear and it doesn't need to loud. Bro, What is the source of such bizarre pieces of knowledge?
    Azan is the Islamic call to prayer. Start and end times for prayers are related to the solar diurnal motion, they vary throughout the year and depend on the local latitude and longitude when expressed in local time.
    Salah is the second of the Five Pillars of Islam. Muslims must pray five times each day. Prayer is an important practice for Muslims and Azan is a reminder or a call for prayer.

    Realizing that in our nation there are other religious faiths and cultures, When we are not offended by Suprbhata, Everyday Bhajans in the evenings, occasional celebrations or any festive seasons, then who are acting like uncivilized here and calling themselves "multicultural"?
    When 1-2 minutes of Azan can offend their "multicultural society", then medieval dessert is the right place for them.
    Problem is not with Azan which is being called through speakers since the times of their forefathers, its mindset against the community. I can only wish their speedy recovery.

    Firstly it is generally agreed observation that it is the LEVEL OR DECIBEL of the noise that is disruptive.
    1. Yes we have freedom of religion and its practice according to our birth religion or of our choice.
    2. we do not have to cause disruption to the lives of others through our loud speakers.
    3. If clear guidelines and equipment ( certified, licensed audio equipment) by Govt officials that limits the DECIBEL level ( just like speed in karte buses) problem solved.
    4. Often I have wondered is there any necessity of daily church bells , prayer calls, etc with loudness needed?
    5. Better option is let them have a FM station as well as internet radio. Let them broadcast their bells banana, and prayer calls via them.

    Firstly usage of loudspeakers by religious places should not be treated as their rights as loudspeakers were never there during the origin of all these religions. However, if we are to treat this as part of the continuous evolving of religious customs, then there are clear guidelines set under Indian Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 (amended in 2017) as to ambient air quality during day / night under different category of areas (Industrial, Commercial, Residential, Silence Zone etc.) Let everyone adhere to the law of the land.

    Only affected locals can say whether the complaint is for right reasons.

    My bias against right wing elements forces me to think that it is for creating friction among people, particularly because the complaint is made only by HJV and not by the general public.

    Brother, my home is right next to the temple. Daily evening bhajan is played through loud speakers. But i have never complained, and why should we complain? We dont have any problem. They have their rights to practice their religion. Few guys like you have problem with Muslims, not loud speakers..!!!

    Very valid point and liked it. All these problems started few years back. We lived in the same society and our generation lived. We used to participate all festivals. Temple, Mosque and Church...
    When someone need any emergency do we ask about his religion etc... No, we help.

    There's loud bajans being played daily in the evening to midnight in the temple near medical chambers falnir, senior citizens aren't able to.sleep till 12:00 am because of the sound!

    You have probably not lived near a Mosque or Temple. Only then you will understand and stop giving lectures on religious tolerance.

    Read the report properly, they increased the volume of the loud speakers. This is real.

    I have the same problem, located a kilometer near Mosque and a couple of temples. One religion increased the capacity of their loud speakers. Other religions also followed.

    Now i am woken up any time the day with loud wailing from the temple and mosque. There is absolutely no peace of mind living near these places of worship.

    Everywhere there is loudspeaker in mosques. Politicians and police are deaf to hear the sound. Locals should give complaint to woke them up and develop enemity from local muslim brothern.. Politicians and police are in deep sleep.

    @Krish, Udupi,last year karnataka banned dipavali crackers. but in mangalore it was a big big crackers sounded till 10 p.m. don't try 2 take out a spek from other's eye when in your eye there is a log.
