Mangaluru, Nov 6: MLA U T Khader said, “There was nothing towards the district and state in the BJP’s special executive meeting.
Addressing media here on Friday November 6, Khader said, “We had a lot of expectations over passing of resolutions pertaining to several issues like unemployment, Covid, education, health and food. But no such resolution was passed. Hence, this meeting has made no contribution to the state and district.
“There should been discussions on sand mafia, issue of Tulu language in Eighth Schedule and the renaming of Mangaluru airport on Kotichennaya. These issues were not discussed. The meeting was not at all useful for people. Was there any need to conduct meeting in Mangaluru after 20 years just to discuss party's internal matters?
“The meeting was just to divert the attention of people. People will definitely give an answer in the gram panchayat elections,” said Khader.
Regard to ban on firecrackers, Khader said, “Why does the government take confused decisions without any proper planning? During election time or the executive meeting, there is no restriction for firecrackers, but for Deepavali, the government bans firecrackers. Few weeks ago, applications were invited for issuing licence for selling firecrackers, but now the government has banned firecrackers this festival season.”
When asked about introducing a law over religious conversion, Khader said, “Whatever law the government brings in, should be with an honest intention. BJP leaders have given different statements regarding the same. If the intention is good, let them bring the law.”
Former MLA J R Lobo, district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai and others were present.
