Kundapur, Nov 6: "Battering the self-reliant life of innocent women because of ego of power is condemnable. This country has given special status for women. Numerous women achievers are remembered every day for inspiration. However, today, it is a tragedy that women, who are forming their life through self-reliance, are unnecessarily harassed. The day is not far when zilla panchayat office will be gheraoed and severe protest will be held against the suppression of women's self-reliance center at Vandse," said former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Vinay was speaking on Friday, November 6, at the serial Satygraha protest that was held under the aegis of Kundapur taluk panchayat raj and various organizations against vacating the self-reliant stitching training center for women, which is affiliated to Vandse SLRM.

He further said, "It is really surprising that the local MLA is opposing the ambitions of Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi. This is a setback for the whole community of women. It is condemnable that the system which needs to support self-reliance is killing the same. Due to the policies taken by the union government during coronavirus lockdown caused innumerable hardship for migrant workers and daily wage labourers.

"In Karnataka, Anna Bhagya programme that was brought into implementation by the Siddaramaiah government helped the people during lockdown. Similar, ASHA workers of the ambitious Asha project brought into implementation by the former PM of India Manmohan Singh gave excellent service to the society. However, in Karnataka, the accusation of scam is being heard during coronavirus pandemic time also. GDP of the country has reached the lowest point. Privatization is entering all the fields. Unemployment is on the rise. Jobs are not being created in the country."

Addressing the gathering, former MLA Gopala Poojary said, "The concerned, who have unlawfully got the self-reliant centre for women, which is the subsidiary of SLRM of Vandse Panchayat, will definitely get the curse. We believe in judiciary. It is not right to spoil the harmony of a village because of political enmity. Judiciary is going to give a fitting verdict in this case."

Youth Congress leader Vikas Hegde said, "If the officials had given a week's time, today's situation would not have arose. Court has ordered investigation on the five officials, who acted unlawfully, due to the pressure of the local MLA. Our fight will not stop as per law. Though logically the serial Satyagraha will end, we will continue our fight in rights committee and court to provide justice for women."

"Today, social justice is dead in the constituency of Byndoor. The local MLA does not have information. He needs to join school. Medical and engineering colleges are the projects that are sanctioned to the district and not taluk. He is fooling people by saying that he will bring these to Byndoor. He made use of the Paresh Mesta suspicious death case for political gains and paraded his innocent parents from Byndoor to Gangolli. After he won the election, the MLA of Byndoor constituency did not even look at them and enquired about their wellbeing. Now you have your own government in state as well as center. What happened to handing over the Paresh Mesta case to CBI?" questioned Vikas Hegde.

Udaykumar Shetty, president of Kundapur taluk panchayat raj federation did the introductory speech. Byndoor Congress president Madan Kumar, Kundapur block president Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki, Vandse block president Pradeep Kumar Shetty Gudibettu, Youth Congress leaders Shekhara Poojary, Santhosh Kumar Shetty Baladi, Nagaraja Ganiga Byndoor, taluk panchayat members Jagadish Devadiga, Vasudeva Pai, P L Josh, Geeta Suresh of taluk DSS, Laxman of taluk Ambedkar association and women of self-reliant center took part in the protest.

Congress leader S Raju Poojary welcomed the gathering.
