Kundapur, Nov 3: BJP-backed candidates Veena Bhaskar and Sandeep Kharvi were elected unopposed as president and vice president for the ninth term of Kundapur Municipal Council.
The elections were held on November 3. Veena Bhaskar and Sandeep Kharvi had submitted nominations as unanimously selected candidates. Election officer Anandappa Nayak announced the names of the president and vice president.
MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty, BJP Kundapur Mandala president Shankar Ankadakatte, district panchayat member Shrilatha Suresh Shetty, Laxmi Manju Billava, district BJP chief secretary Sadananda Uppinakudru, Kundapur Mandala former president Suresh Shetty Kadoor, taluk panchayat member Surendra Kharvi, Mahila Morcha president Gunarathna, taluk panchayat social justice committee president Roopa Rai, town development authority president Vijaya S Poojary, BJP Kundapur block in charge Balachandra Bhat, municipal council former president Vasanthi Saranga, BJP chief secretary Suresh Shetty, Yuva Morcha’s Avinash Shetty Ulthoor, Sunil Herikudru, BJP secretary Surendra Kanchan, Manju Billava, Vakwadi Sathish Shetty, former municipal council member Raviraj Kharvi, Pushpa Shet and others were present.
The post of president was reserved for general category woman and the post of vice president was reserved for backward class ‘A’ category. The council with the total strength of 23 members has 14 BJP, 8 Congress and one independent member. Veena Bhaskar the new president, represents TT Road ward while vice president Sandeep Kharvi represents Bahadur Shah Road ward.
