Mangaluru: Murder, burial of elderly man - Police arrest four, hunt on for absconding accused

Mangaluru, Nov 2: Konaje police have cracked the case of kidnapping, killing and burying of 70-year-old Palliabba by arresting the main accused in the case.

Palliabba, a resident of Akshayanagar, Pavoor village was kidnapped and murdered in a deserted place at Muloor double road, Ira village and buried in a hole dug by the accused.

Complainant of the case, Abdul Majid, residing in Akshaya Nagar, Pavoor, had lodged a police complaint in Konaje police station on November 1 of the disappearance of his elder brother Palliabba after he went missing. He was last seen leaving in an auto rickshaw belonging to Azar at 7.30 pm on October 29.

A case was registered in Konaje police station about people known to Palliabba having travelled in the auto with him and that Palliabba was kidnapped for money matters or other enmity and murdered. Konaje police have arrested four accused in this connection.

The arrested are Hamza (44), a resident of Aksharanagar, Malar; Azeer (26), a resident of Sajipanadu, Bantwal; Arfaz (20), a resident of Kanchinadkapadavu, Bantwal and Mohammed Azaruddin (27) of Malar, Pavoor.

The fifth accused in the case is said to be absconding. A search is on to nab him. The four accused have been produced in court.

The arrests were made under the leadership of Konaje police station inspector Madhusudan by PSI Yogishwaran, PSI Sharanappa Bhandary, PSI Mallikarjuna Biradar and staff Ashok, Vincent, Ramesh, Anil, Purushotham, Shivakumar, Manjunath Choutagi and Mangaluru south sub division crime squad staff Mohammed iqbal, Mahesh, Mohammed Sharif and Dayanand under directions from Mangaluru police commissioner Vikas Kumar, under guidance from Arunamshagiri DCP law and order, Vinay Gaonkar DCP crime and traffic and Mangaluru south sub division assistant police commissioner Ranjith Kumar Bandaru.

    Day by day criminal activities are increasing. Daylight fighting, killing etc, is going on in and around Mangalore. The Police Commissioner should stringent action against criminals and see that we the mangalorean citizens lead a peaceful life.
