Udupi, Nov 1: Prashanth Mogaveera, accused in the suspicious death case of student Rakshita Nayak, is taken into three days of police custody.
Udupi city police station personnel were interrogating Prashanth Mogaveera since a week on a daily basis and sending him back. However, they arrested him and produced before the district court.
Prashanth had brought Rakshita in unconscious condition to Gandhi hospital on October 24. In a matter of some time, he had also disappeared from the hospital and went missing. In addition, he kept his mobile phone switched off. Now the police have taken him into custody for three days after interrogating him continuously for a week.
Prashanth had concealed the fact from Rakshita that he was already married. He was residing with her in a rented house at Ambagilu in the city and was in a physical relationship with her. He also got her into smoking and consumption of alcohol. Prashanth also used to call his friends to the rented house and harass Rakshita. It is also alleged that he made Rakshita pregnant and made her get an abortion.
There is a possibility that the police will intensify their interrogation further with accused Prashanth. Giving information on the case, SP Vishnuvardhan said, "We have considered this case seriously right from the beginning. We have collected vital proofs in the past week. We had called the accused for interrogation earlier. Now he has been placed in police custody for three days. He will be subjected to intense questioning."
