Udupi: Road from Brahmagiri Junction to Guru Narayan Mandir named after Nadoja Dr G Shankar

Udupi, Nov 1: The road from Brahmagiri Junction to Guru Narayan Mandir was named as Nadoja Dr G Shankar road on Sunday, November 1.

Dr Nadoja is known for helping the daily wage labourers, auto-rickshaw drivers and for distributing food kits to the underprivileged during the lockdown period. He also contributed in the education, health, sports, cultural and religious sectors. He is well-known in Udupi for his incredible contribution to society. Recognising his service to the people, the government approved the naming of the road to Dr G Shankar road. He also carries out philanthropic activities through G Shankar Family Trust.



DC G Jagadeesha and MLA Raghupathi Bhat unveiled the name board on the day of Karnataka Rajyotsava on Sunday, November 1.

Naveen Bhat CEO zilla panchayat, Udupi, N Vishnuvardhan, superintendent of police, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde president, Coastal Development Authority, Dinakar Babu president, zilla panchayat, Raghavendra Kini president, Udupi Urban Development Authority, Sumithra R Nayak president, Udupi Municipal Council, Yashpal Suvarna president, Undivided Dakshina Kannada Fishermen Federation and others were present.

    ಉಡುಪಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಕಟ್ಟಡಕ್ಕೆ ಕೋಟ್ಯಾಂತರ ವೆಚ್ಚ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ ಜಿ. ಶಂಕರ್ ಕುಂದಾಪುರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರು ಕೋಟಿಗೂ ಮಿಕ್ಕಿ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಉತ್ತಮ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ ಸರಕಾರಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.

    ಜಿ . ಶಂಕರ್ ಅವರು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ, ಬಡ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಕೋಟ್ಯಂತರ ಹಣ ವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

    ಲಾಕ್ ಡೌನ್ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಫುಡ್ ಕಿಟ್ , ಉಡುಪಿ ಮತ್ತು ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸರಕಾರಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ವೆಂಟಿಲೇಟರ್ , ಮೆಡಿಕಲ್ ಇಕ್ವಿಪ್ಮೆಂಟ್, ನಾಲ್ಕು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಗಳಿಗೆ, ಪೋಲಿಸ್ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಾಸ್ಕ್ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.

    ಇವರು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಜನಪರ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಈ ರಸ್ತೆಗೆ ಗ. ಶಂಕರ್ ಅವರ ಹೆಸರು ನಾಮಕರಣ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ತುಂಬಾ ಸಂತೋಷದ ವಿಷಯ.
