Mangaluru, Oct 31: According to the ambitious project of union government of privatizing the international airport in the city, the management of the airport was taken over by Adani group of company on Saturday October 31.
In fact, the Adani group has taken over the management of the airport from the midnight of Friday, October 30. The official handover process is going to take place on Saturday, October 31.
The top level officials of Adani group will arrive at the Mangaluru International Airport on the morning of Saturday. There will be a pooja before the handing over of the airport management. Sources confirmed that only few people will take part in the programme in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Though the airport will be handed over to the Adani group, both Airport Authority of India and Adani group will work in tandem for a period of one year. Money exchange, commercial activities in the airport, profit and loss will be looked after by Adani group during this one year of joint operation also. Airport Authority of India will give priority to the arrivals and departures of flights and take on the role of director on the whole system.
Even after one year, the arrivals and departures of flights will be managed by Airport Authority of India. This means that both the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Communication and Navigation Centre will be looked after by the airport authority. Excepting security and airline staff, terminal building, runway, electrical and civil works will be handled by Adani group.
