Bengaluru, Oct 30: The meteorological department expects good rainfall in coastal Karnataka, Kodagu and Malnad areas of the state till November 3 beginning today. The rain fury is expected to be quite strong in Shivamogga, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu and some districts of north Karnataka on Saturday, October 31.
The post-monsoon season has stepped into Karnataka. Because of depression in the environment over the Bay of Bengal, Bengaluru, coastal districts and Malnad are expected to get heavy rain. Already Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala are getting rainfall due to the fall in the atmospheric pressure. In addition to the coastal district, Chikkamagaluru, Mysuru, Hassan, Kodagu and Shivamogga are expected to get good rainfall, the department said.
The rainfall which will start now is expected to continue till November 3. Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri and Gadag districts are poised to get light to normal rainfall on November 1 and 2. Sporadic rainfall in southern interior parts of the state is likely from October 31 to November 2, most of the districts in south interior Karnataka may get rainfall, they added.
While coastal districts are expected to get normal rain on November 1, north interior parts of the state are likely to experience dry weather. Bengaluru may get heavy rain today. Information director of the department Patil said that Bengaluru may continue to get light to normal rain till tomorrow.
