A female research scholar of the university had accused Prof Arabi of sexually harassing her in 2018. As the university administration failed to act, she had complained to the women's commission. The state women's commission treated the case seriously and sought a report about action taken from the university. As per the commission's instructions, an internal investigation was conducted by the Sensitization, Prevention & Redressal of Sexual Harassment (SPERSH) committee and the report was submitted to the then registrar Prof A M Khan. The report remained unattended in the file of the registrar till the last week of September this year. After the women's commission took up the issue, the current registrar, Raju Mogaveera, placed the inquiry report before the syndicate.
The meeting, it is learnt, also discussed the desirability of taking action against the then registrar Prof A M Khan, for keeping the report under wraps. The syndicate decided to take up the matter with the government as his appointment was made by the government.
