Mangaluru, Oct 29: Dakshina Kannada Cooperative Milk Producers Union has been moving towards digitalisation for adding value to dairying activity and to achieve transparency in operations. At the same time, software consultants of the union have developed separate software.
The district-level milk producers union is relying on technology for providing quick information to dairy farmers and for administrative transparency. Already software has been implemented in selected societies for getting up to date information about the collection of milk, stock, and other information on an experimental basis.
The technology now developed will enable the union to get at any time latest information about 728 societies and 129 bulk milk coolers.
Software consultant of the union Keshava Prasad Soordelu along with a student of Puttur Vivekananda College Srinidhi R S has developed a separate app named Milk Producers Cooperative Society - My MPCS app. Through this app, the dairy farmers can check the quantum of milk delivered to the society, time, fat content, CLR, SNF content, rate, and total amount at any time. The app has the facility to retrieve information for a period of one year at any time. Qualitative and quantitative information too can be extracted. About 3,000 dairy farmers attached to about 35 societies are experimenting with this app. The app also has provision to extend suggestions and instructions the dairy farmers might require.
