Udupi, Apr 29: The BJP leadership, livid at the betrayal of the party by BSP, SP, JMM and RJD during the cut motion moved by a combined opposition in the Lok Sabha recently, is taking whatever action possible against those responsible for its loss of face. Five MPs of the party, who violated the whip and absented themselves during the voting on the cut motion, will face the music now.
Out of the five, two MPs from Karnataka, Udupi-Chikmagalur MP and former state president of the BJP, D V Sadanand Gowda, and Raichur MP, S Pakkirappa, had failed to attend the Lok Sabha session during the period the cut motion was moved and put to vote. Leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, has made it clear that the Lok Sabha members of the party, who violated the whip, would be served with show cause notices.
It is learnt that the BJP’s top leadership is unhappy at the reasons put forth by three of the five absentee MPs for their absence. It is expected that further action would be taken by the party, based on the replies received from these five MPs.
