Puttur, Oct 27: Two unidentified men who arrived on a bike stabbed an areca nut trader who was also on his bike and stole Rs 4 lac from him.
The incident took place at Perne, near Uppinangady, Dakshina Kannada district. Areca nut trader Deepak Shetty was on his bike with Rs 4 lac in cash which he received following the sale of the nuts. Meanwhile, two other men, who arrived on another bike, stabbed him in the back and neck and fled from the scene with the money.
Deepak trades in areca nuts where he purchases them from the farmers and sells in the market. The unidentified men attacked Deepak when he was on his way home in the inner road at Perne, after closing his shop. Deepak who was seriously injured in the attack has been admitted to a hospital.
A case in this connection has been registered in Uppinangady police station.
