Puttur: Duo on bike stab areca nut trader, steal Rs 4 lac from him

Puttur, Oct 27: Two unidentified men who arrived on a bike stabbed an areca nut trader who was also on his bike and stole Rs 4 lac from him.

The incident took place at Perne, near Uppinangady, Dakshina Kannada district. Areca nut trader Deepak Shetty was on his bike with Rs 4 lac in cash which he received following the sale of the nuts. Meanwhile, two other men, who arrived on another bike, stabbed him in the back and neck and fled from the scene with the money.

Deepak trades in areca nuts where he purchases them from the farmers and sells in the market. The unidentified men attacked Deepak when he was on his way home in the inner road at Perne, after closing his shop. Deepak who was seriously injured in the attack has been admitted to a hospital.

A case in this connection has been registered in Uppinangady police station.

    My God such people dont allow common man live in peace.I am sure they knew this cash been taken home and way laid .why they should stechen ?If asked he would have given suppose threaten .why injure anyone and his home people must have waited for him:In future ,people please dont take so much cash with and go alone.Either go with others or deposit it in your account ,with digital programm nowadays noproblem.or give to some best friend or a head of church,tempel . for the time being.Hope he didnt get risky injury.wish him good health.

    What a pity ? Lost money and seriously injured too.
    Its should be the plot from some insiders who had the knowledge about cash.
    Robbers must should know that they cannot be on the run or escape life long from the law of the land

    I feel sorry for Deepak Shetty, a areca nut trader who was stabbed and robbed of Rs. 4 lac. He is lucky to be alive and I wish him a speedy recovery.

    Such incidents are totally avoidable these days if payment was made in digital mode. Amount would be credited to the bank account and no risk of robbing.
