Mysuru, Oct 25: KPCC president D K Shivakumar had said during the election campaign in RR Nagar to the voters not to cast vote for a candidate who has ditched his own mother, taunting Muniratna, who was earlier in the Congress party and defected to BJP later.
Reacting to Shivakumar's taunt, minister S T Somashekar ridiculed D K Shivakumar and said, "Nobody cares about D K Shivakumar. Siddaramiah himself does not listen to what he says. So there is no need to give much importance to what he is saying."
Somashekar further said, "Muniratna, Byrati and I were loyal workers of the Congress party. Where were these people when we left the Congress? We had said everything to these people. There are no Congress workers in RR Nagar constituency. All have defected to BJP after Muniratna changed his stance. Congress has brought people from outside and distributing the handouts. This itself is said as an environment of fear by our candidate. Muniratna has done lots of developmental works in the constituency in the last six years. We are asking votes with this as the base. So our candidate is definitely going to win."
Somashekar also said that everyone in Congress knows why we left Congress and who are responsible for it. No one will listen what D K Shivakumar is blabbering.
"Congress is trying all ends up in the R R Nagar as they know that BJP candidate Muniratna is going to win the election. They are conveying to the voters about Vokkaliga caste etc in order to woo the voters. But in this bye election none of these caste politics will work. Congress cannot win the election by playing caste politics," said the minister.
