Mangaluru, Oct 25: "DK brothers will not rest until they ensure that Congress candidates win the assembly by-elections. They will spend money and win the election," said former union minister and senior leader of Congress Janardhana Poojary.
Speaking to the scribes in the city, Poojary further said, "D K Shivakumar is capable of spending money on elections. So he and his brother will not rest until they do so.
"Their mother also will be sleepless till Congress secures victory in by-election. She will definitely ensure that her sons emerge victorious. I am confident that she herself will take the responsibility and win the elections for the party," he said.
The date of polling has been announced by the Election Commission for 56 assembly constituencies throughout the country. Polling will take place on November 3 and results will be declared on November 10. In the R R Nagar constituency of Bengaluru, Kusuma Hanumantharayappa is contesting from Congress, while Muniratna and Krishnamurthy are in the fray representing BJP and JD (S) respectively. This will be a fierce traiangular fight.
Due to the death of JD (S) MLA Sathyanarayana, Shira assembly constituency is vacant. The high court had given relief to former MLA of R R Nagar Muniratna, by quashing the interim application of defeated candidate Muniraju who had asked the court to declare him as the MLA. Muniraju Gowda, the defeated candidate of BJP had petitioned the court requesting to invalidate the victory of Muniratna in 2018 assembly elections, who had contested on Congress ticket.
