Mumbai: Traffic cop beaten up by women, two arrested

Mumbai, Oct 25: Two persons have been arrested including women in LT Marg on Saturday for assaulting a traffic cop after he stopped the two-wheeler for not wearing a helmet. The video of the attack has gone viral on social media.

The women has alleged that the constable had abused her during the argument over the helmet. However, the traffic cop has denied any wrongdoing.

Sandvik Tiwari, a resident of Masjid Bunder, and the biker Mohsin Shaikh, were arrested from Bhendi Bazaar. The police after listening to both sides have booked them under Sections 353, 332, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.  

Joint commissioner of police (traffic) Yashasvi Yadav has come out in support of traffic cop, saying despite the woman’s assault, the constable had maintained his dignity and did not abuse the woman or the biker.
