Byndoor, Oct 24: The bridge between Ettaberu and Mavada on Ganganadu road of the taluk collapsed two years ago. This was the lifeline of people of this rural belt which connected them to the main town.
Though the locals have sent repeated appeals to the people representatives, the bridge is not yet repaired. The locals urge the same to be set right at the earliest as without this bridge they face lots of issues during monsoon. Concerned officials have to look into this matter and solve the problems faced by the villagers.
Responding to the issue, officials of Byndoor town panchayat said, "Only two months have elapsed after the gram panchayats of Yedthare, Byndoor and Paduvari were merged. Project plan for the repair of all the roads and bridges under the limits of the newly merged areas is prepared and sent to the concerned. Once the grant is released for the works to be carried out, all the works will be done. Around Rs 20 lac are required for the repair work of Mavada bridge. Action will be taken about this also."
T Shankara Poojary, zilla panchayat member, Byndoor said, "I have got the information about the collapsed bridge and the issues faced by the villagers of that area. As the zilla panchayat does not have the grant for repairing the bridge, the same is not done. Along with the locals, I have brought this to the notice of the MLA. He has responded positively to our appeal and has assured that work will start once the monsoon stops."
