Mangaluru, Oct 22: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V, has issued direction to celebrate Diwali festival in the district in a simple, pollution-free way.
"When celebrating the festival, all guidelines should be strictly implemented. Temporary firecrackers outlets should be installed at places that are away from public and residential places on specified dates only. Only those who hold authorised licences have to sell the crackers. They stalls can remain only between November 1 and 17," his order said.
The DC said further that the stalls where the firecrackers are sold should be airy. "There should be a minimum gap of six meters between two stalls. People in whose names the licences have been issued should be there inside the stalls without exception. The copy of the licences should be exhibited in the stall in a way that they are predominantly visible. Every day, sanitisation should be performed around the stalls. Sanitiser and thermal screening arrangements should be made for the visitors to the stalls. Social distancing and wearing of masks should be strictly implemented, and steps should be taken to follow them," the order issued by him said.
