Kasargod, Oct 21: An auto rickshaw driver in Chengala, Kasargod tore and threw away a lottery ticket which would have won him Rs 5 lac.
Chengala, Chooripalla resident Mansoor Ali (42) had won second prize of Rs 5 lac in the state lottery whose results were announced on October 19. Mansoor reached the auto stand on Tuesday morning, October 20 and went through the lottery results in the list. He checked the last digits and after assuming that he lost, Mansoor ripped three tickets he had with him. However, the lottery agent arrived there a little later and told Mansoor that he had actually won Rs 5 lac. Following which Mansoor and other auto drivers collected the pieces of the ticket disposed of by him.
Soon, the district lottery office was informed about it, who asked Mansoor to submit a letter to the lottery director along with a letter from the local MLA.
Meanwhile, Mansoor hopes to receive the prize money. As the ticket was torn, the prize cannot be given by just looking at the lottery number. The prize will be awarded only if the QR code present ticket checks out. In the end, the decision by the state lottery director will be final.
