Bantwal, Oct 21: Police personnel have formed different teams to arrest the killers of film actor Surendra Bantwal who was hacked to death in an apartment. Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police Laxmi Prasad has expressed confidence in catching the suspects soon.
The DSP on Wednesday evening visited the apartment at Bhandaribettu where Surendra was killed. He later gave suggestions to DySP Valentine D’ Souza, CI Nagaraj and SI Nandakumar Prasanna.
Speaking to news reporters later, the district DSP said, "It appears that the murder has taken place at night. Witnesses and evidence are being gathered. We are inspecting the places where he was conducting his business. We have formed different investigating teams and the case will be examined from all the angles."

Rowdy sheeter Surendra Bantwal was hacked to death in broad day light on Wednesday October 21. The incident took place at at Vasti Katta, Bastipadpu.
He was hacked to death at a flat in a residential complex near the national highway here. The incident came to light on Wednesday afternoon. Senior police officials visited the spot and began investigation.
Surendra was identified in organizations before acting in films. He was also known in photography and had indulged in finance business. He was also identified as a rowdy sheeter under Bantwal police station limits.
It is suspected that he was murdered between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon. He was on the fifth floor apartment in the building. He was assaulted with sharp deadly weapons on the head and other parts of his body. His lifeless body was found on a sofa. Forensic experts also visited the spot and conducted investigation. People gathered on both sides of the national highway on Wednesday afternoon as the news spread. Police personnel controlled the large number of people around the complex.
Circle police inspector T D Nagaraj, SI Prasanna, Kalaimar, Sanjiva, Bantwal town and rural police personnel are conducting investigation under the leadership of DySP Valentine D’ Souza.
The body was shifted to Deralakatte private hospital for post mortem. A case was registered at Bantwal town police station.
