Vijayapura, Oct 20: Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, who has often been caught on the wrong foot after shooting his mouth off, has come out with another controversial statement. He has predicted that Yediyurappa will not last long as the chief minister of Karnataka.
A perception that Yediyurappa may have to sacrifice his seat has been in the air since the last several weeks. Yatnal, speaking on the issue in the city, said that Yediyurappa will not be able to retain his position of power for very long, adding that even the central government leaders are fed up with him.

Yatnal predicted that a leader from north Karnataka will succeed Yediyurappa as the chief minister. "People of north Karnataka elect 100 BJP legislators. Only 15 BJP MLAs are elected from elsewhere. Out of these 15, one becomes the chief minister. Therefore, it is a forgone conclusion that the next chief minister will be from north Karnataka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has promised to make a north Karnataka MLA the next chief minister of Karnataka," he claimed.
Yatnal said that already he is engaged in a tussle with chief minister B S Yediyurappa. He said that the two had a big fight on the issue of cutting down grant of Rs 125 crore for his constituency. He reiterated that Yediyurappa's days as chief minister are counted.
